HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW.

WHAT IS THE CHANGE FROM 1ST APRIL 2024?

As per the SEBI Circular SEBI/HO/MIRSD/FATF/P/CIR/2023/0144 dated Aug 11, 2023, as a part of risk management framework, the KRAs shall verify the following attributes of records of all clients within 2 days of receipt of KYC records:

PAN (including PAN Aadhaar linkage), Name, Address and additionally, the KRAs shall verify the mobile number and email id

If KRA is unable to verify the above attributes, such investors shall not be allowed to transact further until the attributes are verified. Please ensure to provide your valid contact details [Email id / Mobile Number] to KRAs.

PAN (including PAN Aadhaar linkage, as referred to in rule 114 AAA of the Income Tax Rules, 1962)

Name Address Client’s Mobile Number and Email ID

The records of those clients in respect of which all the above attributes are verified by KRAs with an official database (such as the Income Tax database on PAN, Aadhaar XML/DigiLocker/M-Aadhaar) shall be considered as validated records.

General Guidelines to Investors

Investor must submit the valid documents to KRAs to remediate the KYC status to Registered / Validated.

Investors can go to their respective KRA websites and initiate the modification requests, or they can download the KYC form from KRA websites and submit it to any of the investor service centers of AMC / RTA.

Investors to follow the steps given for modification, Email /Mobile number to be validated, and the other details entered by the investor will be validated by the KRAs with the official data base (such as Income Tax database for Pan, and UIDAI database for Aadhaar related validations)

Investor can use any one of the below given OVDs, Kindly note only when the Aadhaar is used as OVD and on successful validations by the KRAs – KYC status shall be updated as Validated

List of documents to be kept ready while using the Online KYC option:
  • Images of PAN
  • Image of Signature
  • Photo for upload
  • OVD with current address (Following are the allowed OVDs),
    1. Passport,
    2. Driving License,
    3. Proof of possession of Aadhaar number,
    4. Voter’s Id issued by Election Commission of India,
    5. Job card issued by NREGA duly signed by an officer of the State Government
    6. Letter issued by the National Population Register containing details of name, address.

WHAT ARE THE ATTRIBUTES AFFECTING YOUR KYC STATUS?

The KRAs have changed the KYC status of all existing KYC complied investors after validating above 4 attributes such as PAN, Name and Address with the official database (such as Income Tax database on PAN, Aadhaar XML/DigiLocker/M-Aadhaar) and Email ID/Mobile number(where provided) as follows :

  • KYC VALIDATED
  • KYC REGISTERED
  • KYC ON HOLD

WHAT ARE THE IMPLICATIONS?

KYC Validated No implications. No implications.
KYC Registered All financial transactions only in the AMC where investor already has investment are allowed. Investors need to submit the set of KYC documents every time they invest with a new AMC.
KYC On hold / Rejected Transactions will not be allowed

Investors are suggested to do a re-kyc using Aadhaar as OVD (Officially Valid Document) to remediate the status to KYC VALIDATED for seamless transactions in securities market

How to remediate your KYC status from Registered to Validated

When the KYC status is “Validated”, Investor can seamlessly transact in securities market without the need for resubmission of KYC documents. Investor needs to do the modification of KYC by submitting Aadhaar as OVD.

HOW CAN INVESTORS UPDATE THEIR KYC STATUS TO "KYC VALIDATED"?

ONLINE

The investor can log on to any of the Mutual Fund’s website and visit the page of “Modify/Update KYC” and follow the steps such as entering his/her details and upload documents as required. Once the Email ID/Mobile number are validated and also other details entered/uploaded are validated by the KRAs with official data base (such as Income Tax database on PAN, Aadhaar XML/DigiLocer/M-Aadhaar), the KYC status will change to “Validated”.
